Add Fullness and Body to Short Hair

Short hair is a wonderful option to frame a small face, accentuate high cheekbones, and draw attention to the eyes. A short bob, for example, looks sleek and professional. Shorter hair usually makes people appear younger, which is why many women over fifty prefer a short cut. Short hair also takes less time to wash, dry, and style than longer hair, and is cooler in hot weather. If hair is naturally thin, however, short hair may stick to the scalp and look dull. It is possible to add fullness and body to natural hair with short weaves.

Many people associate weaves and extensions with longer hairstyles, but short weaves hairstyles are available in almost as many variations. The deep curl, for example, is perfect for short hair because it actually looks more natural when in shorter lengths. Purchasing hair for weaves in shorter lengths is less expensive per bundle, and requires fewer bundles than other styles for a full and thick appearance. A style with a side part will not require hair for the entire head, just the longer side. Short lengths are also used in longer styles for fuller bangs, streaks of color, and fullness at the crown of the head.

Virgin human hair is best for shorter lengths because the cuticles are still intact, and the hair has not been processed. That means less chance of split or frizzy ends, and more freedom when styling. Virgin hair can be curled, blow dried, straightened, and bleached. Human hair also has fuller body and a natural texture. Choices include Brazilian, Malaysian, Indian, and Peruvian. Synthetic hair is also available, and is more cost-effective. The feel is not as natural and it does not last as long as human hair, but the look can be just as stunning as human hair.

Weaves have to be re-applied every two to three months, depending on how fast the other hair grows. That will keep the weave from being easily detected. The weave is applied close to the scalp either by braiding, sewing, and gluing it into the hair. Proper maintenance of weaves can make them last as long as two years.
